ISUZU Cebu will launch the improved MU-X sports utility vehicle and D-Max pickup truck on Nov. 23 at its dealership at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.
Both vehicles, which are Isuzu’s bestsellers, now sport a more powerful 3-liter diesel engine backed up by a variable geometry system (VGS) turbo.
The combination gives both vehicles 27-PS more power compared to the 136 PS that the older 2.5-liter engine produced. The new 3-liter engine now generates a maximum power of 163 PS and 380 newton meter of torque.
This development is expected to boost the performance of the MU-X and D-Max in the local market.
The MU-X has been selling well even with the small engine because of its fuel efficiency and value-for-money characteristics.
Now with a bigger engine, the MU-X can compete against the likes of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ford Everest and the upcoming all-new versions of the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
Apart from the upgraded powertrain, the 3-liter MU-X LS also gets daytime running lights and muffler cutter tailpipe, which were not available in the 2.5-liter variants.
