Megabond keeps clean slate with 8th victory

THERE’S just no stopping Megabond as they won their eighth game in a row with a, 77-73 nipping of Davies in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Corporate Cup last weekend at the University of San Carlos gym.

Athletic forward Loreniel Tequin shone for Megabond with an all-around showing of 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals while Malvin Malicdem ably backed him up with 13 points and eight assists.

Megabond’s eighth win in a row pushed it a step closer to sweeping the double round-robin eliminations.

Mike Cinco had a double-double of 21 points and 10 boards while Paul Besinga pitched in 19 for Davies which dropped to 2-6 and is now in danger of missing out on the semifinals after reaching the finals the last conference.

In other games, defending champions Dorma tied CMI for the second spot with an, 80-57 win over winless Phoenix.

League MVP Ed Macasling had another stellar outing with 30 points, eight rebounds and four dimes even as Niel Benedicto nearly had a double-double with 19 and nine. Alfred Calumba added 10 markers and 15 boards while Richard Gayomali flirted with a rare quadruple-double with 15 points, 10 steals, six rebounds and five assists.

CMI on the other hand, fell to Fenestram, 55-68. Dorma and CMI now tote identical 5-3 cards while Fenestram is holding on to the fourth spot with an even 4-4 card.
