A 13-YEAR-OLD girl was killed after a truck ran over her in the national highway in Naga City, southern Cebu.
The girl, a grade 8 student, was walking to Uling National High School when the accident happened last Tuesday afternoon in barangay Uling.
Marcos Bunao, driver of the dump truck with plate number AQA-6877, said he lost control of the wheel when the truck’s brakes malfunctioned while he was driving downhill.
The truck first hit a sedan car and a truck before hitting the girl at the side of the road, said PO3 Menandro Boligor, investigator of Naga Police Station.
The student was taken to the Minglanilla District Hospital but did not make it alive.
The driver surrendered to the police after the incident.
He may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide if the victim’s family files a complaint, police said.
