Users of Meta Platforms’ social media services reported experiencing issues with Instagram and Facebook late Wednesday, July 22, as thousands of outage reports poured into monitoring website Downdetector.
Many users took to other social media platforms to ask whether Instagram was down after encountering problems sending and receiving Direct Messages (DMs).
Others reported that conversations failed to load, while some said posts and stories were not refreshing properly.

Facebook users also experienced intermittent issues, with some reporting difficulties accessing their News Feed, logging in, and using Messenger.
According to Downdetector, reports of service disruptions for Instagram and Facebook spiked late Wednesday, indicating a widespread issue affecting users in multiple countries, including the Philippines.

Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads, had yet to issue an official statement explaining the cause of the disruptions or provide a timeline for when all services would be fully restored as of posting time.
