The Filipino United Network – USA, a non-profit humanitarian foundation in the United States, has launched its Fund for Hope drive to help care for the devastated victims of supertyphoon Yolanda.
The group has so far netted P1 million since its relief campaign started.
The donation, coursed through the Commission on Filipinos Overseas’ Linkapil (Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino) Program (www.CFO.gov.ph), benefited more than 2,000 families. It was also used for the purchase of 50 tents for makeshift classrooms for the hundreds of schoolchildren.
“Let’s not wait for surgery to open our heart let’s extend a helping hand to these suffering victims in Cebu, Tacloban, and other affected communities,” said the US-based Cebu Daily News columnist, Dr. Philip S. Chua, former chief of heart surgery at Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, and chairman of FUN-USA.
