Megabond tastes first loss

DEFENDING champion Dorma showed its experience and resolve as it handed Megabond its first defeat of the season, 58-46, in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Corporate Cup last weekend at the University of San Carlos gym.

With league MVP Ed Macasling in fine form, scattering 20 points, five rebounds and four assists and Alfred Calumba anchoring the middle with 12 points and 12 boards, Dorma snatched the win and improved its chances of snagging a top two finish as it tied CMI for second at 6-3 (win-loss).

The two teams clash tomorrow to determine who will grab the second spot and the last twice-to-beat bonus.

CMI came away victorious with a 60-58 win over the pesky Phoenix.

With the game tied at 58-all and just seconds left, Mito Parba found Samboi Parcon in the corner and the latter drove along the baseline and sank the go-ahead layup. He finished with 13 points while Richard Badayos added 10.
