OWNERSHIP issues on the lot where the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) stands have been resolved.
With this, the construction of a new CCPO building can begin.
Senior Supt. Marciano Batiancela Jr., acting head of CCPO, said it has been confirmed that the lots were donated by the Cebu Provincial Capitol.
“I am still asking for the document but verbally, the engineering department had confirmed the donation of the lot where the CPPO stands,” said Batiancela in Cebuano.
The construction of the building was delayed as requirements clarifying the ownership of the lot where the police camp were still unclear.
Part of Camp Sotero Cabahug where the CCPO stands is owned by the Cebu provincial government. Batiancela said he talked with the engineering department of the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) and confirmed that the title has already been turned over by the Capitol.
In a phone interview, Ethel Natera, information officer of Capitol, confirmed that the lot has already been given to the CCPO through a deed of donation last October.
The P50-million budget for a new building inside the police camp is part of the Cebu City Hall’s Peace and Order Program (POP) worth P400 million. The amount has not been fully used and most of its projects still are pending for implementation.
Cebu City Hall’s head for Peace and Order Program (POP) Councilor Dave Tumulak, who visited the office of Batiancela yesterday, welcomed the confirmation of the donation .
He said this was what the City Hall program was waiting for to start the construction.
