Carrying unregistered firearm, Carcar resident arrrested

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 55-year-old man was arrested for carrying an unregistered firearm in Sitio Danao 2, Barangay Valencia in Carcar City, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, around 1:20 a.m.

The suspect was identified as Renante Siacor Panggo, 55, a resident of Sitio Tapal, Barangay Guadalupe in the same city.

The Carcar City Police Station had received a call from a concerned citizen informing them of a person brandishing a firearm of unknown caliber.

In response, the station’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Alert Team were deployed to verify the report.

No documents

During the operation, the police were able to apprehend the suspect after he was caught in the act possessing the firearm.

The suspect was also unable to present pertinent documents authorizing him to possess and carry the firearm.

Authorities recovered from the suspect a .9 mm caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with six live rounds of ammunition.

Currently, the suspect is placed under the custody of the Carcar City Police Station, pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.
