UPDATE : SM Cebu Representative RJ Leduna said the boy in the escalator accident is in stable condition and that no fracture was found based on examination at a private hospital.
A boy’s foot got caught in the escalator as it descended to the lobby of SM Northwing at 6:45 pm.
Several mall goers rushed to help. Technicians arrived about 5 minutes later to extricate the boy.
He was taken to a private hospital with his grandparents who were with him on the escalator when the accident happened. SM management had no immediate comment on the incident.
Black cloth panels were immediately set up at the base of the escalator to restrict public viewing of the rescue operation.
CDN’s Apple Taas talked to several witnesses and watched the boy being placed on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance.
