Miss Cebu 2016 candidates show they are beauties with a heart for others

MORE than just their stunning looks, the official candidates for Miss Cebu 2016 showed that their hearts are in the right place as they talked about what advocacy they want to focus on during their press presentation held on Nov. 20.

Natasha Caira Rosales said she wants to be the voice of single parents, especially those who are having a hard time juggling work and their responsibility towards their children. The 20-year-old Psychology student of Cebu Doctors University is from Labangon, Cebu City.

Providing livelihood to adults and education for young children will be the advocacy of
Tracy Maureen Perez. A native of Argao town, Perez is a 22-year-old graduate of Bachelor of Science (BS) in Industrial Engineering who works at Eperformax.

Shaila Mae Rebortera will focus on promoting city tourism and quality education. The 19-year-old Denstistry student from Cebu Doctors University lives in  Lapu-Lapu City.

Darra Niko Calagos, for her part, said she wants to improve education for youth.

“I believe this will make the world better,” said the 20-year-old resident of Borromeo Street, Cebu City who works at EPerformax.

Ecotourism will be the priority of Felina Joyce Lim. “We just don’t need tourism itself but also we need to make use of our natural resources,” added Lim, a registered nurse from Labangon and a proprietor of a Body and Sole branch.

Francheska Marie Mamac, a graduate of Medical Technology from Velez College, said she wants to provide livelihood and shelter to street dwellers. “I believe that the people are the hope of our nation,” said Mamac, who works as marketing manager at Mamac-Mendoza Associates

Anna Marie Saldon, on the other hand, wants to promote social awareness and welfare in Cebu City. The Lapu-Lapu resident is a Psychology student at Southwestern University.

Communication student Daenielle Anne Llenos of St. Theresa’s College said she will focus on the environment.

Recreation for children and a safe environment will be the advocacy of Gabriele Raine Baljak.

The 18-year-old radio host and musician raised concern over victims of cybersex and child trafficking in Cebu.

Bea Clarisse Raboy said she wants education for all. The 22-year-old Special Education student from Cebu Normal University hails from barangay Basak, San Nicolas.

It will be social entrepreneurship and improving education and tourism for Vida Doriza Reya, a store manager of 7-Eleven who hails from barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Merl Gayo, who bears a striking resemblance to Maine Mendoza, more popularly known as Yaya Dub, said she wants to help protect marine life through a clean-up drive. Gayo, who is from Lapu-Lapu City, is an Aviation and Electronics student from Indiana Aerospace University.

On its 32nd year, the Miss Cebu pageant will have its coronation night on January 13, 2016 at the Grand Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
