Robbers shot dead a married couple and took almost P300,000 carried by the husband as they were riding a motorcycle in barangay Day-as, Cordova town on Sunday night.
The assailants fled with the motorcycle and cash.
Ranilo Tampus, 33, and his wife Elisa, 38, residents of barangay Buagsong, Cordova were declared dead at the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.
The man was shot in the chest while his wife was shot in the mouth.
Their 5-year-old daughter who was riding with them escaped harm by hiding in a a nearby store.
The three had reached sitio Matab-ang when two unidentified men blocked their way and shot the couple, said SPO2 Laurencio Wagwag, deputy chief of Cordova Police Station.
Police learned from the couple’s relatives that Ranilo works for a construction firm and was carrying P200,000 to P300,000 at the time of the attack.
Police suspected the robbers had been watching the couple’s movements and knew that Ranilo was carrying a large amount of cash at the time.
The couple’s daughter was placed in the custody of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of Cordova.
The child will undergo post-trauma stress debriefing.
