Cebuano wins in Bohol ITT race

CEBUANO biker Amon Espinosa bested the less-than-favorable race conditions to come out on top in the Men’s B/C Individual Time Trial of the Ride Bohol Cycling Race that was held over the weekend in Bohol.

Espinosa clocked 24 minutes and four seconds in the 16-kilometer race that spanned from Loay to Lila and vice versa.

In second place was Harry Jumamoy, who timed 25:05, while Johnny Ferniz was five seconds slower in third place at 25:10.

Bohol riders Roger Torreon and Pio Castro finished in fourth and fifth places, respectively, with times of 25:53 and 25:54.

In the men’s Golden class, Philip Sainz grabbed first place with a time of 26:35 while American rider Keith DeFiebre took second place with a time of 28:29. Cebuano Jonathan Simbajon gave a good account of himself as he took third place with a time of 29:58.

TOP FEMALE FINISHER

Meanwhile, promising Cebuana rider Ana Patricia Maximo finished in 14th place with a time of 33:36. She was, however, the top female rider, of the race.

“I’m satisfied with the result. The field is so strong I thought I will end up last. The experience I get from competing with men stronger than me will help my confidence and racing skills,” said the national cycling champion of Batang Pinoy and two-time Sportswriters Association of Cebu awardee.
