WITH its second store opening at the SM Seaside City Cebu, retail giant Forever 21 continues to deliver the latest and choicest selection of apparel and accessories to style-loving Cebuanos.
In time for the season, Forever 21 unveiled its 2015 Holiday Collection last Nov. 28 in a fashion show at the Cube Wing of the newly-opened SM Seaside City.
Modeled by Cebu’s top mannequins and young and stylish personalities Angeli Gomez, Mikaela Pacubas, Santino Osmeña, Josefine Hey, Rica Gomez, Doyzkie Buenaviaje, Jessika Knight, Hazel Yap, David Cua, Alyssa Sacal, Kara Lim, Alex Osmeña and Alyssa Lao. Guests were in for some flashback moments and retro-feels.
The collection was the brand’s take on the swinging ‘60s and hippie ‘70s trends, but of course rendered in a modern-contemporary style which Forever 21 is best known for. A great assortment of basics and statement pieces make the collection very exciting. We’re seeing a comeback of the fringe, in the form of an overlapping skirt, some delicious suede boots/ booties, and no-fuss shift dresses. This year they opted for neutral colors like camel, grays, whites and blacks with a pop or dark berry shades, and ivy green. Plaids are still big for the holidays—we see it giving instant attitude to an otherwise basic outfit. In the mix are sparkly pieces perfect for holiday parties. Forever 21’s menswear has taken a nostalgic turn with some well-tailored pieces and chic knitwear. Layering plays a big part in this year’s collection.
Even though Cebu’s tropical climate dictates otherwise, one can easily pull off the layered look by opting for lightweight materials, and… well, not over-layering.
The sporty and baggy silhouettes have been traded in for a more tailored and tucked shape, but still leaves room for movement.
