LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Central and Eastern Visayas can expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday, September 16, due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said.
In its daily weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the country is experiencing a monsoon break, while the ITCZ is affecting parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
The ITCZ is a low-pressure belt near the equator where the trade winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres converge, bringing rain and thunderstorms.

The rest of the Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, will experience isolated rains or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
Winds and seas
Most of the Visayas and Occidental Mindoro will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
Siquijor, Southern Leyte, and the western sections of Palawan will experience moderate winds and moderate seas.
Pagasa has not raised any gale warning over the country’s seaboards as of Wednesday morning.
Tropical Depression
Meanwhile, Pagasa continues to monitor a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 3 a.m. Wednesday, the tropical depression was located 2,970 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon and was moving slowly west-northwestward.
It had maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 70 kph.
Pagasa said the tropical depression has no direct effect on the country’s weather conditions.
