LIBERAL Party (LP) senatorial candidate Joel Villanueva said he will prioritize job generation if he gets elected to the Senate.
The former chief of the Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) said this during a forum at the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).
He said he will also propose legislation for a Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) that will institutionalize a seamless education and training towards employment.
“This will harmonize basic education, technical vocational education, and higher education by establishing national standards for education. This is helpful for an international alignment,” he said.
Villanueva said nurses in the Philippines need to take National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to work in the same profession abroad.
“When he graduates as an engineer and gets a license, his license should be one that would be recognized when he works abroad,” Villanueva said.
Villanueva said the PQF will be established by the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and Tesda.
