Wilson-led Barako Bull trips Talk ‘N Text in overtime duel

VETERAN forward Willie Wilson posted a career-game to power the Barako Bull Energy Cola to a 105-98 overtime win over the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters last night in 41st PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The-35-year-old Wilson put up career-highs 28 points and 20 rebounds in what by far is the best game of his 12-year-old career.

RR Garcia donated 22 points and JC Intal had his own double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds as Barako Bull snapped a two-game slide to nail its fourth win in eight games.

The undersized forward stood his ground against the Talk N’ Text bigs as he grabbed six more rebounds than the Tropang Texters’ starting frontline of Harvey Carey and Mo Tautuaa.

Overall, Barako Bull outrebounded the taller Talk ‘N Text, 68-51.

Tautuaa finished with a career high 20 points, while Troy Rosario and Jayson Castro each scored 19 points for Talk ‘N Text, which slid to 4-3 (win-loss).

Rosario sank two free throws that tied the contest at 97 all with 15.5 seconds left in regulation.

After a missed layup by Wilson in the next play, Castro had the chance of winning it for Talk ‘N Text but his three-point shot rimmed out as time ran out.
