Policemen have confirmed a shooting incident involving a group identified with the Liberal Party at about 2 p.m. today in barangay Masa, Dumanjug in southern Cebu.
A post on the Facebook page of Dumanjug Vice Mayor Efren “Gungun” Gica said unidentified persons threw a grenade and fired at the vehicle of Rene Asentista, vice mayoral bet of the Liberal Party in Dumanjug.
Dumanjug police chief Sr. Insp. Arvi Arbuis said Asentista was not hurt, but some of those inside the vehicle suffered minor bruises when they jumped off the vehicle.
Arbuis said there were four gunmen. Only one was not wearing a bonnet. They used a .45 caliber gun and an M79 rifle grenade.
When reached for comment, Gica told Cebu Daily News he was still busy.
