THE Cebu City Hall’s Anti-Drug Abuse Council was adjudged by the Philippine National Police (PNP 7) as the most outstanding anti-drug council among the other cities in Central Visayas.
The same recognition were given to barangay Labangon, Cebu City and Tisa barangay tanod for their fight against illegal drugs under the barangay category and barangay tanod category, respectively.
Tubigon in Bohol was also awarded under the municipal category.
The awarding was held to culminate the Anti-Drug Abuse Prevention Control Week headed by the PNP 7 last Nov. 27.
Cebu City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) chairman Paul Clarence Oaminal said the PNP is required to observe the drug abuse prevention week every third week of November.
“Last year we did not garner any award and I’m very happy that this year the city has garnered most of the awards,” said Oaminal.
Oaminal also thanked Cebu City Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) chief Dr. Alice Utlang since Cosap is the implementing body of the CADAC’s activities.
“If not for Cosap, we wouldn’t have been here today, so I thank Dr. Utlang,” said Oaminal.
On Dec. 7, the Cadac will give the most outstanding barangay and drug-free barangay awards as part of their Anti-Drug Abuse Prevention celebration.
