Carolinians bag U-13 crown of Mayor’s Cup Football Festival with big upset over DBTC-A

The University of San Carlos-Basic Education (USC-BED) booters completed a big upset and bagged the under-13 boys category crown of the Mayor’s Cup Football Festival yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

USC-BED trounced the heavily favored Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC)-A , 3-0, in the finals.

USC-BED pulled off a complete domination of the DBTC teams as it also beat DBTC-Team B in the semifinals, 3-2.

In the quarterfinals, USC-BED defeated Canduman FC, 2-0.

DBTC-A won over Guardian Strikers, 3-0, and nipped Warshocks, 1-0, to book a seat in the finals.

USC-BED had a smooth campaign in the eliminations as it topped Group C with 12 points after chalking up four wins.

DBTC-A finished Group A with 10 points, getting  with three wins and a draw.

In the girls under-18 division, San Roque Football Club (SRFC) emerged as the top team after ending its campaign with 13 points.

Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) placed second with 10 points after tallying three wins and a draw.

In the girls under-15 division, the Talisay Razkals collected nine points to snatch the crown while Tayud United FC and SHS-AdC both finished with four points to place second and third, respectively.

The Razkals finished with three wins and a draw, while Tayud United FC and SHS-AdC both finished their campaigns in the u-15 girls with a single win, two losses and a draw.

Tayud United FC secured the second spot owing to its superior goal quotient over SHS-AdC.

Both the under-18 and under-15 girls divisions followed league-type formats with a team accumulating the highest points getting the victory.

Action in other age-group matches were still being played as of press time.
