Expect heavy traffic for Guadalupe fiesta

The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO)  warned of possible heavy traffic starting tomorrow in barangay Guadalupe, leading to the annual fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday.

A Banauan Festival will be held today, Dec. 10, starting  1 p.m.

Tomorrow, Dec. 11, a long procession will  be held starting 5 p.m.

“This office interposes no objection provided that the suggested route shall be followed and one half of the road shall be utilized for the vehicular traffic and traffic rules and regulations be observed,” read the endorsement of CCTO on the permit application of Guadalupe barangay captain Michael Gacasan.

The route for the Banauan Festival will start from English/Happy Valley as assembly area, through V. Rama Avenue, and will end at the Guadalupe Sports Complex.

For the long procession, it will start from the Guadalupe Church to V. Rama Avenue, left turn to a barangay road, right turn to A. Abellana St., right turn to M. Velez St., left turn to V. Rama Avenue, u-turn at Happy Valley to V. Rama Ave. and back to Guadalupe Church.

CCTO executive director Rey Gealon said they are expecting a lot of people trooping to Guadalupe Church until Saturday, Dec. 12, when a 10 a.m. Solem High Mass will be officiated by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma.

“Routes are mapped-out to ensure that vehicular traffic will be moving in these areas as thousands of people are expected to gather, attend and join the festivities owing to the barangay’s dense population,” Gealon said.

More than a dozen traffic personnel will be fielded to assist in guiding motorists and controlling traffic flow.
