TWO TEAMS locked in a tight race for an automatic semifinal berth clash as the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters battle the Alaska Aces in the main game of the 41st PBA Philippine Cup today at the Araneta Coliseum.

Alaska and Rain or Shine are at the upper part of the standings right now.  The Aces occupy the second place with seven wins and just one loss. They are the second hottest team in the league after wining their last four games.

Alaska has not tasted a loss since dropping a close 92-93 decision to the Barangay Ginebra Kings in their Nov. 7 encounter in Dubai, UAE.

The defending champion San Miguel Beermen own the active longest win streak in the tournament with their seven straight victories.

San Miguel holds a half-game lead over the Alaska as it occupies the number one spot with an 8-1 (win-loss) record.

Rain or Shine is at third place with six wins and two losses. The Elasto Painters saw their three-game win come to an end after they bowed to the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, 104-108, last Wednesday.

In the first game, the Barako Bull Energy Colas try to make it two in a row when they collide with the lowly Blackwater Elite.

Coming off a big 105-98 win over Talk ‘N Text, Barako Bull looks to catch up Ginebra at the sixth spot.

The Energy sport a 4-4 record, just half-game behind the Kings, who are 5-4.

The Elite are at 11th spot with a 1-7 record and have lost their last five games.
