The Sacred Heart Parish is launching its feeding program tomorrow at Zapatera National High School in Cebu City.
The activity will start at 8 a.m. with a Mass.
“We name the feeding program Mary’s Meal since it will be launched on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe,” said parish priest Fr. Vidal Gornez, SJ.
“Our target beneficiaries are at least 80 impoverished students who often go to school,” he said.
Each student can avail of one free meal a day at their school canteen from Tuesday to Saturday. The school feeding coordinator makes sure that those in the official list get the food allocated for them.
The project welcomes donations and benefactors to support the feeding program. Each meal costs P25. A one-week feeding requires P10,000 per week.
The parish will support the program until the end of the school year in March 2016 after which the Parish Social Action Committee will evaluate whether there are sufficient resources to sustain the project in the next school year.
