17 awarded for giving psychosocial therapy to capsize victims

THE Cebu Provincial government has awarded plaques of appreciation to Glenn Glarino and 17 other psychology volunteers for the psychosocial therapy of the bereaved families and victims of the capsized MV Kim Nirvana-B last July.

Glarino was also given a plaque of appreciation for his talk about recovery.

Thirteen volunteers and four faculty members from the University of San Carlos were given certificates of appreciation.

Venus Jais Camparilla, a psychology student from the University of San Carlos, said the experience was substantial.

“Actually, it was substantial and I was able to learn a lot from them. At the same time, I was able to impart something to the other volunteers and health workers,” he said.

Camparilla also said that the therapy was a collaborative effort by the government and the volunteers.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III and Board Member Miguel Magpale were present during the awarding ceremony.
