Tongco, Erediano rule 5k category

NICSON Tongco and Moira Erediano topped the 5-kilometer run of the The Million Volunteer Run of the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu and Cordova yesterday at the Gaisano Mactan Island Mall in Lapu-Lapu City.

Tongco crossed the finish line in 19 minutes and 41 seconds to bag the men’s title while Erediano finished in 29:27 to take the women’s crown.

Martly Violeta finished second to Tongco with a time of 20:02 while Lester Gulen rounded off the top three with a time of 21:40.

Hannah Galo trailed Erediano, clocking 29:27 for second place while Mary Abegail Esmabe grabbed the third spot by finishing in 32:45.

Clint Beltran and Susette Secretaria emerged as the fastest runners in the 3k division.

Beltran finished the race with 10:14 to top the men’s side. Joemar Latoree placed second with a time of 11:20 while Felipe Mahinay clocked 12:31 for third place.

Leticia Mosora (20:38) and Jacquiline Pangatungan (21:17) were runners-up to Secretaria.

Around 300 runners answered the starting gun of the running event handled by veteran race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running.
