Anti-MJ drive intensified

MEMBERS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the region are intensifying their campaign against the selling of marijuana this holiday season as they expect a surge in demand for this illegal drug.

During the holidays, prices of shabu normally increase because of high demand. This will make drug users turn to marijuana, which is cheaper than shabu, said PDEA-7 Deputy Regional Director Wardley Getalla.

PDEA-7 is focusing their operations on the mountain barangays of Balamban and Badian towns where marijuana plantations are reported to be found.

Last Saturday, PDEA-7 arrested a 36-year-old woman and confiscated 5 kilos of marijuana in a buy-bust operation in barangay Cansumoroy, Balamban.

Angel Baricuatro was arrested but his cohort Bienbenido Salabandi escaped.
