MEGABOND drew first blood in the race for the title in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Corporate Cup as they won Game 1 by the skin of their teeth, 53-52, over defending champions Dorma last Saturday night at the University of San Carlos gym.
It was a highly-competitive game with neither squad giving an inch to the other until the third when Megabond upped their defensive intensity and held Dorma to just eight points while scoring 13 of their own to hold a slim 37-36 lead.
The two teams engaged in a back-and-forth battle in the fourth but Megabond eventually pulled out all the stops down the stretch to hack out the thrilling win and take a 1-0 series lead in the season-ending best-of-three championship series.
Loreniel Tequin carried Megabond to victory as he scored 20 points, pulled down nine rebounds, dished out three assists, and added four steals and two blocks.
