Davaoeño Cerin is Nasfor 2015 Driver of the Year

Davaoeño Michael Cerin of 4-Wheelers Davao proved he’s the best off-roader of the country as he claimed the National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders (Nasfor) 2015 Driver of the Year Award after the two-day final leg of the Nasfor Philippine Tough Truck Challenge XV held in Talisay City over the weekend.

Despite finishing fourth in last weekend’s race, Cerin was able to gather enough points to maintain his lead in the rankings for the Driver of the Year plum.

Red Diwa of Isabela Extreme finished on top of the competition followed by Waig Adventure Team’s Kent Estrella and Cerin’s teammate Jiggy Rodriguez.

Leading his closest rival by over 70 race points prior to the race, all Cerin needed was to finish Tracks A, B and C to win the coveted award.

2011 Driver of the Year Reynan Jayme of Waig Adventure Team finished second overall while 2013 and 2014 Driver of the Year Tonton Dungca of Pampanga finished third.

Cerin won three legs in the series, which helped him finish on top after the final leg.

Present during the race were 2006 Driver of the Year Roger Peyra, who is now 63 years old, 14-year-old Christian Doyon and lone female racer Maila Alivia.

The championship leg of the Nasfor Extreme Off-road Challenge XV was held outside Luzon for the first time.

The NASFOR Philippine Tough Truck Challenge XV was supported by the local government of Talisay and sponsored by Ricor Mills, Racetech Suspensions, 199 Off-roadhouse, Toptul, Maxxis Tires, Mobil Lubricants, Motolite, Berrima Diesel, Aison Surplus, Citipark Hotel with Adventure 4X Magazine as its official media partner.
