JAPANESE retail giant UNIQLO has made its LifeWear concept, Simple Made Better, more accessible to all with the opening of its second regional store, and 27th nationwide at the SM Seaside City. This comes a month after the warm welcome and overwhelming response it received from Cebuanos when it opened its much-awaited first store in the region at SM City Cebu last October.

Guest of honor at the tape cut ceremony held last Nov. 26 was Cebu designer and artist Yvonne Quisumbing, who Uniqlo collaborated with to do the cover artwork of their limited edition notebook that was offered during opening week. Joining her were Uniqlo executives-SM Seaside City Manager Steph Mendiola, General Manager Geraldine Sia, Chief Operating Officer Katsumi Kubota, Co-COO Masayoshi Nakamura and Area Manager Toshiyuki Oga. To share the art and culture of Japan, the Utsuwa Taiko Drummers, an all female trio, were flown in from Tokyo to Cebu, captivating the crowd with the sound of drums to mark the store’s opening. A live visual art demonstration done simultaneously left the guests in awe.

“The response of the local market to the Uniqlo brand since we opened our first store here exceeded our expectations. With this 1,000 sq. m. second store, we are able to reach more people and share with them the Japanese principles of simplicity, quality and longevity found in every piece of Uniqlo clothing,” shares Mr. Kubota.

Uniqlo offers a full range of everyday essentials for men, women and children. It is committed to providing apparel that focuses on the wearer and offers quality clothing with innovation and real value from staples such as premium denim jeans, stylish leggings pants, colorful chino shorts, graphic T-shirts, polo shirts, Supima Cotton T-shirts and innerwear, to the brand’s unique and proprietary AIRism, HEATTECH, and Ultra-Light Down (ULD) collections, all engineered to enhance everyday life and serve as building blocks of one’s style.
