ABOUT 5,000 members of cooperatives under the partylist Coop-National Confederation of Cooperatives (Coop-NATCCO) voiced support for the Liberal Party lineup in a program held at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday.

During their “Pwersang Kooperatiba sa Sugbo: Kadaugan sa Daang Matuwid Coalition”  Coop-NATCCO partylist Rep. Cris  Paez said they support the reforms and programs of the present administration.

Paez is running for senate under the Liberal Party next year.

“By joining the administration coalition, this will give us a chance to build a strong cooperative economy in our country,” he said.

Paez said their group strongly believes “that cooperative enterprises are better business models for inclusive growth which is part of the Daang Matuwid (straight path) program.”

Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas was there to thank thankCoop-NATCCO for their support. He said the administration’s economic programs are also geared similarly to the cooperatives.

“Hindi magkalayo ang programa ng Daang Matuwid at ang kooperatiba (The straight path program isn’t far off from the cooperatives). People are helping each other, formalizing our organizations and we have one purpose,” Roxas said.

The event was attended by Liberal Party stalwarts in Cebu such as Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) mayoral candidate Tomas Osmeña and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, who is running for reelection under the Liberal Party banner.
