Around 50 individuals dressed like Santa Claus will bike through Olango Island in Lapu-Lapu City to give toys and candies to the children on Dec. 19.
They will also treat the children to kiddie rides at the island’s mini Hoops Dome on Dec. 20 and 21.
The biking Santa Claus was organized by the city mayor’s office for the children of Olango.
“Some of the children in the island are not exposed to the scenery of Christmas in the mainland or in Cebu City, thus, we give them much entertainment,” Mayor Paz Radaza said in Cebuano.
“They are happy to receive even small tokens and entertained looking at many Santa Claus,” Radaza added.
Frances Nicole Balao, a tourism staff who is in-charge of the activity, said this will be the third since the program was conceptualized. “We received a lot of positive feedbacks and the children are always looking forward to the biking Santas,” Balao said.
She added that this activity will also promote the tourism sites on Olango island such as culinary tour on bike, camping at Asinan Eco-Park and bird watching.
The Kiddie Land adventure at the mini Hoops Dome in Barangay Talima will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Balao said they will arrange the children’s entry by batch to anticipate the influx of participants from the 11 barangays.
There will be four big inflatables, go carts, Lego booths, mascot shows, robotics presentation, a Christmas Village, food booths, free snacks, among others.
Around 10,000 children from the island and another 10,000 from mainland Lapu-Lapu City are expected to participate.
The Kiddie land will also be brought to the mainland at Hoops Dome in barangay Gun-ob on Dec. 30 and 31.
