A 45-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested for allegedly manufacturing firecrackers at home in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.
Although Angeles Curacha is a licensed firecracker maker in the city, the designated place to make and sell firecrackers is in barangay Babag.
“The permit stated that she was only allowed to make firecrackers in barangay Babag,” said Chief Insp. Wilbert Parilla, chief of the Hoops Dome Police Station.
Three sacks of pyrotechnics called “fountains” and “hotdog” were seized from Curacha’s house on Thursday afternoon.
Curacha denied making the firecrackers at home. “I just brought them home to finish the labeling. They were not made at home,” she said.
The arrest stemmed from a complaint of the barangay captain of Gun-ob.
Police said Curacha will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 7183, otherwise known as an act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
