To encourage the community to get involved in police’s efforts to detect and solve crimes, the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) has launched hotlines that will allow concerned citizens to give comments, suggestions and even report crimes.

The public may call these hotlines: PRO7 — 0917-303-9413; Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) — 0906-390-3402; Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) — 0977-393-5463; Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) — 0917-306-7139 and the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) — 0917-311-5492.

The initiative, dubbed as “We Connect and Your Voice Counts,” was launched last Monday and was attended by representatives of the different sectors of the community who hold positions in the Regional Advisory Council for Police Transformation and PNP Patrol Plan for 2030.

The objective of the project is to draw community involvement by establishing linkages through police hotlines that citizens can easily access.

During the event, community leaders signed a manifesto supporting the project.

They include Ma. Teresa Chan, president of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Rey Eleccion, president of Cebu Bankers Club; lawyer Dodelon Sabijon, dean of the College of Criminal Justice of the University of Cebu (UC) Main Campus; and Anton Dignadice, executive director of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI).

Dr. Francis Kim Capate of the Cebu Provincial Health Office; Arnold Bustamante, president of the police beat reporters; and Pastor Alejandro Ybañez Tan of The Church of Jesus Christ also signified their support.

In an interview, Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan, acting chief of PRO-7, said the initiative will boost their intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

It will also help the police apprehend criminals.
