CHH promotes strong patient mgt

Alleviating the health condition of a patient requires a solid patient management where every healthcare manager is engaged in the process. When there is a strong collaboration in a hospital’s healthcare team and when each member plays his role well in identifying and managing a patient’s illness, it won’t be long before a patient walks through recovery.

This is what Chong Hua Hospital (CHH), the leading medical center in Visayas and Mindanao, emphasized during its recent Multidisciplinary Case Conference held last December 9 at the CHH auditorium.

“The purpose of this conference is to discuss the pressing concerns on patient management and to further educate our medical. Through this step, we are hoping to enhance the services we give to our patients,” said CHH Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Medical Ancillary Services head Dr. Gary Galon at the sidelines of the event.

The conference showed a film documentary that featured CHH’s medical ancillary experts who tackled the essence of multidisciplinary approach in diagnosing, treating, and managing a patient’s disease. The positive impact of this approach was then shown through the real time testimonial of one of CHH’s patients who have grappled with a debilitating disease like stroke but have gradually recovered with the aid of thorough monitoring by the hospital’s ancillary services team. “The coordination of all services is vital in helping patients recover. This results to the improvement of in-patient outcomes and shortens the length of stay in the hospital,” said Dr. Mayleen Jeniffer Laico, CHH’s assistant medical director for CME.

CHH’s medical ancillary services are rehab medication, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, eye institute, and respiratory therapy. With the coordination of these services in looking at a patient’s condition, CHH aims to provide a “holistic approach of medication” for all its patients.
