Anti-indecency body warning
Party organizers in Cebu City were warned against hiring the services of sexy dancers for Christmas and New Year’s Day celebrations.
Remember that some minors may be watching, said Lucelle Mercado, Cebu City Administrator and head of the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board.
She said the CAIB can track down the performers and event organizers.
“Even though they are covered with clothes, their gyrating and suggestive actions are indecent to some people,” she said.
She said CAIB can fine the event organizers and dancers engaging in this this kind of entertainment under the city’s anti-indecency ordinance.
Mercado said the organizer can be fined P5,000 multiplied by the number of dancers performing while the dancers can be fined P5,000 each.
Mercado called on guests of these parties to report to the city government, so they can act on it.
She encouraged guests to take photos and send it to their office with details about the performance as evidence.
First-time violators will be summoned for a briefing, she said.
The fines, however, will be imposed for repeat offenders.
This year, CAIB already recorded 10 private events involving the hiring of sexy dancers.
But Mercado said their office has not yet received any report about “immoral” forms of dancing in private parties.
“Our office is always on the lookout. We are now on red alert considering its already the height of Christmas season,” said Mercado.
She the city is doing its share in stopping this kind of entertainment.
“We are only trying to boost the morality of the Cebuanos,” she said.
Last week, City Hall destroyed copies of FHM and Cosmopolitan magazine which were confiscated from vendors in the past year by CAIB for their alleged pornographic content in some pages.
The magazines were torn and cut with scissors in a public ceremony outside City Hall that included the dismantling of video carrera units seized in the police campaign against illegal gambling.
