Megabond Aluminum Cladding ended their year with a bang as they dealt the death blow to team Dorma’s dreams with a 56-55 victory in Game 2 to complete a sweep of the finals of the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Corporate Cup last Saturday at the University of San Carlos gym.
Megabond drew first blood in the best-of-three championship series with an equally-pulsating 53-52 win in Game 1. Game 2 was no different as Megabond got off to a fast start in the first half before withstanding a furious comeback try by Dorma in the fourth period to claim the victory and the coveted title that was beautifully crafted by Giardini del Sole.
Loreniel Tequin led the charge for Megabond with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists while Malvin Malicdem scored 11 markers, grabbed four rebounds, issued three assists and stole the ball thrice. The Finals MVP award went the way of Tequin who averaged 17.5 points, seven rebounds, nearly four assists, almost three steals and a block in the series.
Aside from Tequin and Malicdem, Megabond is composed of Eugene Peteros, Romulo Anino, Neil Belga, Kurt Vanguardia, Fern Silapan, Neil Arnoco, Gerald Jayme, Hasef Festejo, Faraday Diongzon, Kenneth Bensig and Nick Abapo.
Dorma missed the services of ace guard Ed Macasling who sat the game out because of an injury. Julius Orit led the team with 19 points.
