Unbeaten IBF Youth featherweight champion Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo of the famed ALA Boxing Gym, will face a tough opponent in the February 27 edition of “Pinoy Pride 35: Stars of the Future” at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu City.
This, after ALA Promotions International, which manages the hard-hitting warrior, bared that the 20-year-old Boholano will be fighting an equally young and talented prospect in Eduardo Montoya of Mexico in the co-main event of the highly successful series.
Pinoy Pride 35 will be headlined by WBO Youth Intercontinental super-bantamweight champion “Prince” Albert Pagara against former world champion Juan Carlos Sanchez also of Mexico.
Magsayo’s most recent bout was in ALA Promotions International’s first fight card in the US mainland where he defeated Mexican Yardley Suarez in the very first round at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. He is unbeaten in 12 fights with 10 knockouts.
The 22-year-old Montoya, on the other hand, is the younger brother of tough lightweight contender Rosbel Montoya who was once a fierce rival of Pagara’s older brother, the reigning WBO
International Super-Lightweight champion Jason Pagara. They have crossed paths twice in their careers with a 1-1 head-to-head record.
The younger Montoya holds a record of 17 wins with 13 knockouts along with four losses and a draw.
