Pyrotechnics, firecrackers selling well in Cebu malls

SELECTED firecrackers and pyrotechnics sold in some malls in Cebu have been selling well especially in the days leading to New Year’s eve.

Nova Agusto, Dragon Fireworks Inc. (DFI) products seller, said the goods sold out fairly quickly in  mall outlets.

DFI had three SM City Cebu outlets.  The Cebu City government, however, revoked their permits last Tuesday and ordered them to move their displays to the official designated selling area at the South Road Properties starting today.

But last Monday, their bestselling products around noontime were already sold out. These are the large caliber multi-shot cakes Crimson Rebirth and Eye of Osiris. The cakes each cost P940 a pack. For fountains, the bestseller in malls are Fortune Fountains  at P360 a piece.

By 2 p.m., half of the outlet’s shelves were already cleared.

Agusto said that sales  increased as New Year’s eve nears.

Agusto also noted that while many  customers end up buying aerial display products, most of them still opt for child-friendly options, such as sparklers or binggala.

Stocks were also said to be selling out fast in DFI´s four other mall outlets in SM Seaside City Mall, SM Consolacion, StarMall Talisay City, and Parkmall Cebu.

Consumers are continually advised to be cautious when buying and using fireworks to avoid accidental explosions and burns.

The  Department of Health and Department of Trade and Industry have released advisories on the safe handling of  fireworks.
