Mandaue to install more traffic lights

MORE traffic lights and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed in Mandaue City streets this year to help the city government manage the traffic in the city.

The traffic lights and the cameras are already here in Cebu after they were transported from Manila, said Florentino Nimor Jr., City Planning and Development officer-in-charge and the new executive director of Traffic Enforcement Agency in Mandaue (TEAM).

“We are ready to install them and we are just waiting for clearance from DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways),” Nimor said in Cebuano.

Nimor said they needed the go signal from the DPWH 7 because the roads where they will install the traffic lights and cameras are national roads.

He said they already sent their request to the DPWH last month but they have not yet received a response.

Nimor said the traffic lights and cameras will be installed in 14 intersections in the city’s north area which covers barangay Tabok to barangay Basak.

He said the stretch of road is long and has several choke points which cause traffic in northern Mandaue.
