Fajardo leads BPC contest

CEBUANO behemoth June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel continues to lead over compatriot Greg Slaughter of Barangay Ginebra in the race for the Best Player of the Conference award in the ongoing 41st PBA Philippine Cup.

Despite his not playing a single game in the quarterfinals, the Pinamungajan-native and the two-time reigning MVP of the league maintained his lead in the statistical race with 45.6 statistical points.

San Miguel gained an outright berth in the semifinals by virtue of their top two finish in the elimination round.

The former University of Cebu stalwart  averaged   23.1 points, 14.3564 rebounds, and nearly two assists and two blocks in 11 games this season.

Slaughter, formerly of the University of the Visayas, is in second place with 43.2 statistical points after an spectacular All-Filipino conference showing of 22.7 points, 14.385 boards, 2.7 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.

In distant third is GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle with 38.1 statistical points.

Four other Cebuanos made it to the top 25 with GlobalPort’s Terrence Romeo, the league’s leading scorer landing in seventh (35.15 SPs); JR Quiñahan of Rain or Shine in 19th (25.5 SPs);

Mahindra’s Aldrech Ramos in 21st (25.2) and Alaska’s Sonny Thoss in 22nd (24.7 SPs).
