150 teams to take part in Sinulog Football Cup this weekend

ONE OF THE major sporting events that will take place this festive month will be the Sinulog Football Cup of the Cebu Football Association.

The tournament will be held this weekend at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) football field in Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

This year’s edition of the annual event drew 150 teams, a bit lower than the 168 teams that joined the tournament last year.

The tournament is held in line with the celebration of the annual Sinulog Festival. It will have 13 age groups and will last for two days.

The divisions are; under-seven mixed, under-nine mixed, under-11 mixed, under-13 boys, under-15 boys, under-15 girls, under-18 girls, under-18 boys, ladies and men’s open, inter-BPO men’s, the 38-above division and the 45-above division.

There’s an average of 10 teams per age group, according to a CFA official.

Each match will last for just 15 minutes, which is also shorter than the usual 20 minutes. This was done to be able to accommodate all the teams in the tournament.

Cebu’s top teams like Leylam FC, ERCO BRO FC, DBTC Greywolves, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles, San Roque FC and Queen City United and other noted football teams are expected to join the tournament, which will start in the morning and will finish at 10 p.m.
