Cebu Business Month mobile app updated

TO kickstart preparations for the Cebu Business Month celebration this year, organizers have released an updated version of the Cebu Business Month mobile application.

The CBM 2016 app, which was developed by new media startup Innopub Media, is available  for Android from the Google Play Store. The iOS version is still undergoing review prior to listing on the App Store.

The app features an updated listing of events related to CBM 2016.

As the CBM events take place, the app will contain stories, updates, and links to resources related to the talks and conferences. The app has a notifications feature that organizers will use to alert participants about the different CBM events.

This year’s theme for the Cebu Business Month celebration is “Digital Cebu.”

In a statement, CBM 2016 chairperson Christian Paro-an said the theme is in itself a “rallying call.”

“We need to harness digital technologies to boost our business and keep our edge,” he said.

“We chose Digital Cebu as theme to emphasize the need for Cebu business to ride the digital, especially mobile, revolution,” he added.

Paro-an said businesses in Cebu should not be complacent and instead, innovate and improve.

“Digital technologies have profoundly changed the ways we do business,  work and live. They have altered society and continue to impact virtually all business functions across all industries,” he said.

“They have touched the core of all business functions and even the ways organizations are managed. They have challenged existing business models and they continue and will continue to do so,” he added.

The chamber also plans to utilize the application even after CBM for other activities and announcements of CCCI.

In its initial calendar of events for CBM, the chamber has scheduled a five-day ICT-BPM Conference and Exhibition for June 1 to 5. A two-day Entrepreneurship Conference and Technology and Innovation Expo is planned for June 23 and 24.

Other events for CBM include a two-day Food Safety Conference and Expo on June 16 and 17.

In a statement, CCCI said the event aims to accomplish five goals, namely: promote the culture of innovation, grow businesses through digital strategies and business analytics, explore new technologies to upgrade business, enhance governance through digital innovation and leverage digital technology.
