THE STORIED collegiate careers of three of the country’s most celebrated amateur players will be given their due as San Beda’s Baser Amer, Letran’s Mark Cruz and Far Eastern University’s Mike Tolomia will be feted with the Super Senior awards in the Collegiate Basketball Awards on January 26 in Greenhills.
The diminutive Mark Cruz, all 5-foot-5 of him, was named as the Finals MVP of the NCAA after leading the Letran Knights to the title with a colossal victory over the powerhouse San Beda Red Lions that was ironically, led by Amer.
In spite failing to end his collegiate career on a victorious note, Amer has nothing to be ashamed about as he exits the Mendiola campus with four titles to his name.
Tolomia meanwhile, helped the Tamaraws end a 10-year title drought with a thrilling finals victory over the University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP finals.
Cebuano forward Roger Pogoy and Kevin Racal will also be given the Pivotal Player awards.
The committee will soon name the Smart Player of the Year as well as the Collegiate Mythical Five.
