Mandaue businesses given until Jan. 20 to renew permits

THE Mandaue City Treasurer’s Office is now accepting credit card payments for business permit.

City Treasurer Regal Oliva said this is the new scheme of the city government to accept payments through MasterCard or Visa credit cards.

Last Jan. 4, the city government installed a one-stop-shop facility in three venues – City Hall, Mandaue City Sports Complex and Pacific Mall – to fasttrack the processing of applications to renew business permits.

Oliva said the City Hall facility is for applicants with two or more businesses and bookkeepers. “No noon break. It will only take seven minutes to finish the transaction if an applicant has complete requirements,” he said.

The requirements include business permit of the previous year, barangay clearance, income tax return of 2015, and application form.

The one-stop shop will only be until Jan. 20. Oliva said after the Jan. 20 deadline, they will no longer renew business permits.

Late applicants will pay a penalty of two percent interest per month plus 25 percent surcharge.

“(This is) because under the local government code, the deadline for business permit renewal is January 20,” he said.

Oliva said applicants for new business permit will only be accommodated after Jan. 20 deadline at the city hall.

Oliva urged the business owners to immediately settle their obligations to avoid penalty.
