CEBU City Hall reminded Sinulog revelers not to litter and avoid smoking in public places during the week-long celebration.
The Cebu City Environmental Sanitation and Enforcement Team (CESET) said they will be strictly enforcing environmental laws 24/7.
“There is no lifting of our environmental laws. That is the direction of (suspended) Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama,” CESET chief Grace Luardo said.
CESET also issued guidelines to 483 establishments, including the Sinulog booths near the Abellana National School, reminding them to clean up everything within five meters of their premises.
Luardo said they were told to segregate their garbage, place and seal them in black plastic bags, and dump them in proper containers for disposal.
Each establishment should look out for scavengers who rummage through their garbage containers and end up littering the streets, Luardo said.
If they fail to comply, Luardo said they will be issued citation tickets which might lead to filing of cases in court.
Seven teams were assigned to issue citation tickets to violators within the city.
Luardo said she issued a memorandum to CESET members reminding them not to take a leave until after Sinulog.
