Ten persons were hurt on Thursday morning when a passenger jeepney hit the center island and fell on its side at the Cebu South Road in Talisay City, southern Cebu.
SPO1 Junard Jose Chiong, investigator of the Talisay City Traffic Division, said the passenger utility jeepney (PUJ) was heading toward Cebu City from Talisay at about 6 a.m., when driver Ranilo Ababa lost control of the steering wheel.
The PUJ hit the center island and fell on its side, injuring all 10 passengers on board.
In a separate interview, Roland Bas, supervisor of the City of Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-TODA), said that four of the passengers were brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City.
Bas said a concerned citizen helped them board a taxi.
The other six were taken to the Talisay City District Hospital by personnel of the Talisay Rescue Emergency Action Team (TREAT).
Bas said the operator of the jeepney has attended to the injured passengers.
Chiong said Ababa, who also sustained bruises and a wound on his shoulder, was brought to the police station for questioning.
Ababa might be facing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries should the victims decide to file a case against him.
But he would be released from custody if no victim will file a complaint within the next 12 hours.
