SOUTH AFRICAN defending champion Bradley Weiss will be defending his title in the upcoming XTerra Philippine Championships in Albay on Feb. 7.
Joining Weiss will be 12 other professional triathletes including former grandslam champion Ben Allen of Australia, Guam’s Cameron O’neal and Charlie Epperson together with Michal Bucak of Crotia, Taylor Charlton of Australia, Hong Kong’s Hsieh Chung Sing, Australian Brodie Gardner and Cebu’s Joseph Miller.
In the distaff side, defending champion Flora Duffy won’t defend her title as she is preparing for the Rio Olympics. Out to contend for the women’s crown are Australian’s Dimity Lee Duke, Jacqui Slack and Lizzie Orchard and Guam’s Micko Carey.
The race is organized by Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), the group behind the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines and this year’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships in Cebu.
The XTerra Philippines was held in Cebu for four straight years before transferring to Albay Province in the Bicol Region. This will be the second year Albay will be hosting the premier off-road triathlon race.
