A walking tour of Cebu City’s historic Parian district is an experience that delegates of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) will remember.
Delegates can witness Cebu’s culture and history as organizers plan an evening heritage tour for them starting tomorrow, Jan. 25.
Msgr. Augustin Ancajas, chairman of the Committee on Cultural Events 51st IEC, requested for the tour similar to the “Gabii sa Kabilin” or Night of the Museums organized every May by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI).
The tour will include visits to the Cathedral Museum, Casa Gorordo, the Jesuit House, the Sandiego-Yap House and the Basilica Minore del Sto Niño.
Lopez Jaena Street (Mabini to MJ Cuenco) will be temporarily closed from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. for the walking tour. Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) advised motorists to take alternative routes, to ease traffic in the area during the tour.
Around 20 CCTO personnel will be deployed to man traffic in the area.
Meanwhile, CCTO executive director Rey Gealon advised motorists to take heed of the road closures.
Today January 24, M.J. Cuenco Avenue, Osmena Boulevard, MC Briones Street, Legaspi Extension will be closed to traffic.
“It is better for you to join the Mass or better stay at home,” said Gealon.
