SHE may have the looks, the intelligence and the confidence, but young actress Kylie Padilla is not open to joining any beauty pageant.
“Nagpa-panic attack ako. And also, the bikini thing! I’ve never worn a bikini in my life. Tapos naka-heels ka pa. Sila na lang,” Kylie told the Cebu press shortly before she and “Buena Familia” co-star Kenneth Medrano, as well as “Little Nanay” stars Mark Herras and Kris Bernal entertained their fans for the Kapuso Mall Shows in Cebu last Jan. 15. The mall shows were part of GMA Network’s participation in the Sinulog festivities.
Asked about her co-star and ka-loveteam Kenneth Medrano (a Cebuano looker who won last year’s “That’s my Bae” contest in “Eat Bulaga”), the 22-year-old daughter of action superstar Robin Padilla said: “He is hungry to learn, which is good para sa mga bago. Kasi love na sya ng mga tao kaagad, so ang tendency nun, yayabang. Wala pa naman akong nakikita.”
What’s next for Kylie when GMA Network’s afternoon teleserye “Buena Familia” ends next month?
“They said they want to get me for (the reboot of) ‘Encantadia.’ But pinag-iisipan ko pa. Medyo mabigat ang workload nun ‘eh. Nag a-action ka tapos naka-costume ka pa. Ayokong maging half-hearted,” she said.
Which of the four Sang’gre of the kingdom of Lireo (Encantadia’s center of worship) does she want to portray? “Pirena,” Kylie said, without hesitation. Originally portrayed by Sunshine Dizon when “Encantadia” aired in 2005, Pirena is the eldest of the Sang’gres and is the keeper of the Jewel of Fire.
For this year, Kylie has started on a personal goal which is “to humble down” her lifestyle. She explains that because of the popularity of her father, she and her siblings had always lived a sheltered life and would always get special treatment.
But now, she’s trying to do things on her own and adopt a simpler lifestyle. For starters, she’s selling her condo unit. “Yung binili ko hindi ganun kamahal and it’s in Quezon City. I don’t wanna feel so separated from people. And I drive on my own now. Hindi ko palaging kasama ang driver ko so I can feel like a human
being!”
While Kylie said she was looking forward to taking a break when “Buena Familia” wraps up, it looks like that won’t happen soon.
Just last Jan. 21, it was reported that she is already working on a new film titled “Triptiko” opposite Calla Lilly vocalist-turned-actor Kean Cipriano.
