THE Cebu provincial government distributed a total of 18 motor vehicles amounting to more than P3 million to different remote barangays last Monday.
The vehicles included 14 mini ambulances, which costs P204,500 each.
The different barangays from Carcar City and the towns of Minglanilla, Consolacion and San Fernando received one unit of mini ambulance each, while Argao received three and Daanbantayan got seven.
Two units of Suzuki multicabs worth P134,000 each were also distributed to the municipalities of Argao and Tudela.
Another two units of Honda CFT 125 motorcycles were also given to the Mandaue City government. Each motorcycle costs P67,000.
Provincial Information officer Ethel Natera said the mini ambulance will enable the beneficiary barangays to bring their patients who need urgent medical attention to the nearest district hospital or to Cebu City.
Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, who was present during the distribution, emphasized the need for these barangays to have their own ambulance and motor vehicles as they are located far from the town proper.
“Hopefully, with the distribution of these vehicles especially the mini ambulances, it would be easier for the barangays to bring those in need of medical attention to the Poblacion or even to the city,” he said.
