A TWO-STORY evacuation and crisis center will soon rise in Amlan town, Negros Oriental.
The building will be constructed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development through the bottom-up budgeting process.
Social Welfare Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, together with Amlan Mayor Bentham dela Cruz, led the groundbreaking ceremony.
Soliman said the evacuation and crisis center will play a vital role in protecting the lives of vulnerable citizens, especially the women and children.
“We are happy with this new development for Amlan as this will help us strengthen our campaign to end violence against women and children (VAWC) and reduce the risks during disasters,” she said.
The building worth more than P4.8 million along Poblacion, Amlan Highway is set to be completed middle of this year. The DSWD allotted P2 million for the construction of the center. The rest of the amount will be shouldered by the Department of Interior and Local Government and the local government unit of Amlan.
